Scene-Soft's Story

Scene-Soft, like anything else, was once just an idea between two friends who thoroughly enjoyed video games; more particularly - the stories, the characters, the music and sounds, the gameplay and most of all the overall aesthetic. These two founders, MARK JAMES GILBRAITH & TRAVIS O'CONNOR, spent many years working on emulating and replicating their favorite studios aesthetics - ranging from things such as Fan Recreations and Faithful Fan Projects, Game Modifications and most importantly - for the love of the craft and the pursuit of furthering the industry in some measurable way whether it was big or small.

However it wasn't smooth sailings for the two friends. They survived on 3D art and Programming commissions that they were able to accumulate over several years. This meant alot of heavy competition and foul business plays by competitors. Mistakes, regrets, accomplishments and success was almost a daily routine at this point. The two shared this many times over the course of several years in their new endeavor but still something was missing.

The immense pressure and realization of what they had fallen into was called `the artists trap`. Never able to pursue or experience the true happiness that got them started to begin with. The true love for video games & entertainment and to realistically pursue this endeavor seemed like a fleeting dream. Unfortunately, to make matters worse, the two founders of Scene-Soft went separate ways to pursue careers and education.

During this time, MARK JAMES GILBRAITH, had been stirring an idea while he was attending college. That idea was later molded into something more tangible - it was called Scene-Soft. An independent studio brand that could be organized, directed and developed in ways that were more favorable as a truly independent business with unique personalities running under the hood without the fear of financial security and the disruption for their original goals. A studio built out of love, passion and simply a pursuit to make video games and interesting media. During this time MARK JAMES GILBRAITH met ZIL SACAN, a traditional 2D artist. They developed and worked on several comics together which collected over 80,000 views and a very satisfied fan-base in a short period of time while they were still attending school.

Shortly after the success of the web-comics it was decided that if Scene-Soft was to ever exist as a proper idea or brand then the bar would have to be raised. A complete game would have to be made at least once in the span of a single year and it MUST be something unique with semi-complicated and non-standard mechanics at the helm. These self imposed deadlines made it next to impossible to achieve but they were necessary in order to prove that it wasn't just a pipe-dream. MARK JAMES GILBRAITH, TRAVIS O'CONNOR and ZIL SACAN set out to make the project happen as a test to themselves - no matter what stood in the way - their endeavor to achieve this goal was finally successful - a very humble, bug ridden, rushed and weirdly directed and designed game had finally come to be: Hum Drum Experiences released on Steam on September 28th, 2018.

With the release of 'Hum Drum Experiences' - Scene-Soft had at last taken it's first real breath showcasing to the founders that this would be more then just a pipe-dream. It was the birth of an ever lasting devotion to Art and to Scene-Soft in particular. Following the release of Hum Drum Experiences; the founders had acquired a newfound goal to continously make something bigger and better while exercising patience for Scene-Soft's future projects - making sure that they fit a true professional standard.

So where exactly does this leave Scene-Soft then? What are the plans moving forward for this dedicated merry band of people? Good question!

Scene-Soft has been in the process of expanding and building something truly amazing; We'd like to take the time to welcome MICHAEL RUBINO and DEREK LLOYD to the team!

However, there are many more challenges ahead; but with a bright look on the horizon it is the belief that Scene-Soft is prepared to meet what the future has to bring and hopefully that'll be more and more video games! Infact, we guarantee it.
